If you have read any of my previous blogs, you know I have a passion for teaching. There is something about helping others that resonates with my soul. It’s my calling and I enjoy every minute of it. As a public servant for the people (see how dramatic I can get lol), I realize we live in a world full of different personalities. Each person has their own moral compass that guides them to make certain decisions. Should I seek help for this particular topic? Should I let fate determine my grade in this course? Should I hike this mountain? Where am I going with this? I am getting to it lol.
Okay here it comes…let’s talk about cancellation policies for tutoring. While it’s fun to help others and rewarding for the soul, there comes a time where you have to set boundaries for how you help people. No I am not available at 2 am in the morning. No I can not hold my schedule open an entire week in anticipation of the needs of one student. No I can not do your personal dry cleaning. And no I can not agree to work with a client without brief introductions and a sense of where you need my help.
Moore Statistics Consulting has a cancellation policy which is the following:
- You have a right to cancel. Cancellations should occur with a 24 hour notice.
- If you fail to cancel the session within 24 hours, there is a 50 dollar cancellation charge.
- I typically waive the cancellation fee for the first rescheduling conflict.
- After 4 sessions, I waive the fee all together.
The objective here is not to punish the student, rather it is to ensure the success of my efforts to help others.
